Camp Saxida is at the beautiful junction of the Vipava Valley, the Karst, the Goriška Brda and the high mountain plateau at the north of the Vipava valley. The possibilities for bike trips are almost limitless. Here are some ideas for cycling around the area. You can do a cycling trip on your own or join a tour with our qualified bike guide.
At the Saxida estate, we can arrange for you to rent electric or mountain bikes upon prior request. Requests must be made at least one day before the rental. The cost of delivering bikes to the estate is €25/transport.
Electric bikes have a range of up to 80km and allow for easy cycling even on strenuous excursions. All bikes are regularly maintained and serviced.

Easy tour of Vipava valley – Family cycling tour of Vipava valley
This cycling route takes you along the Vipava river, where you can enjoy the tranquillity and even go for a swim on a hot summer day. The route is also suitable for children, as it does not contain many steep climbs. On the main road take a left turn into Batuje industrial zone, where a sign directs you. Continue along the macadam road along the railway. When you cross the Vipava river for the second time, you will see several natural pools along the way, where you can stop. From the village Male Žablje you can extend your trip by visiting BIKE|STOP|ENJOY point Darovi Vipvaske in Vipavski križ, which is a perfect stop for refreshments and a break. You can easily return to Saxida resort by following back the same road by the railway.
E-bike tour of Vipava valley – Cycling circuit of Vipava Valley: suitable for electric bikes
This slightly longer trip takes you through the valley of river Branica, from where you ascend to Vipava Valley. An astonishing view over the valley’s vineyards to Nanos, Čaven and Gora awaits you. On the way back to the resort you will cycle on country roads and experience some of the most beautiful corners of our valley. We recommend making a stop at the bike point Hiša posebne sorte in Kodereti village, paying a visit to village Goče, a BIKE|STOP|ENJOY point for refreshment at Darovi Vipavske in Vipavski Križ. The trip is more varied and a real pleasure on electric bikes.
E-bike tour of Karst
The cycling trip takes you to Karst, which is famous for its stone, wine Teran and prosciutto. The trip begins by ascending over the pass Železna vrata (Iron door pass), which offers an astonishing views over the valley, all the way to the Alps. Once you conquer the slope, a calm cycling through the kasrt villages awaits you; here you will be able to admire the skill of stonemasons shows in the authentic karst architecture. Following the side roads and macadam paths you will arrive in the village of Štanjel; which deserves some time to explore and to refresh yourself in Bistro Grad Štanjel. The only thing still awaiting you is a descent to the Branica valley and an easy cycling back to Saksida resort. Since the trip is quite varied, an electric bike is most suitable for it.
E-MTB tour Cerje
This challenging MTB tour will award you with great views from the Alps to Adriatic sea! Route takes you mainly on gravel and forest roads and requires some off-road riding experience. On the way you`ll stop at monumental Cerje tower, have a rest & snack in the village of Komen and visit a castle Rihemberk on the way back to the resort. A fantastic tour for electric mountainbike!
